Police investigating ‘suspicious’ death of man in south-west Sydney unit
The “suspicious” death of a man found in an apartment in Sydney’s south-west yesterday is being investigated by detectives.
Police were called to Middleton Road in Leumeah just before 2pm after neighbours noticed a bad smell coming from the unit.
The body of 49-year-old man was found rolled up inside a carpet inside the unit. He has since been identified as Jamie Colgan.
His death is being treated as suspicious and a crime scene has been established.
The unit is being forensically examined.
Detective Chief Inspector Greg Inger said today the time of death is not yet clear, but the man’s body “was in a state of decomposition”.
“We’ve spoken to the family of Jamie and were putting together his movements and associations,” he said.
“We’re basically seeking the assistance of the public of anyone who may have had any knowledge, or any involvement with Jamie particularly in the last two weeks.”
Detectives are appealing for anyone with information, CCTV, or dashcam footage from the area to come forward.
