COVID-19 cases rise in NSW, another four virus deaths in Victoria
New South Wales has recorded 13,093 new cases of COVID-19 amid fears a new Omicron sub-variant could cause numbers to double in the coming weeks.
Across the state, 965 people are currently hospitalised with the virus, with 44 people in intensive care.
Seven more people have died in the past 24 hours after contracting the virus.
In Victoria, 5192 new COVID-19 cases have been detected in the community.
Four people have passed away in the latest reporting period and 195 people are in hospital with COVID-19.
Eight people are on ventilators and 25 people are in intensive care.
